Moreta has officially enabled QR payments in Malaysia on the DuitNow network. You can scan and pay DuitNow QR merchants directly in the Moreta app using your existing wallet balance.
Before you pay
-
Update the Moreta app to the latest version from the iOS App Store or Google Play Store.
-
In app Settings, set your location to Malaysia.
-
Add money to your Moreta wallet if needed. Your balance is held in USD and converts at the live mid-market rate when you pay in Malaysian ringgit (MYR).
-
Check you have enough balance for the purchase plus the 1.5% transaction fee shown on the review screen.
Paying a DuitNow merchant
-
Open Moreta and open the QR scanner.
-
Scan the merchant's DuitNow QR code at the till, on a sticker, or on their payment terminal.
-
Enter the amount in MYR if it isn't filled in automatically.
-
Review the merchant name, amount, and 1.5% transaction fee.
-
Slide to confirm. Most payments complete within seconds.
Requirements & rollout notes
-
Malaysia QR is a new rollout. If something looks wrong, contact support via the in-app chat with a screenshot.
-
You must be on the latest app and have location set to Malaysia for DuitNow QR to work.
-
QR payments use your existing Moreta wallet balance — there is no separate Malaysia wallet.
If the scan or payment fails
-
Confirm the QR is a merchant / business DuitNow code (not a personal receive-only code).
-
Update the app, restart your phone, and try again on mobile data if Wi‑Fi is unstable.
-
See My QR payment isn't going through for general troubleshooting.
Still stuck? Use the chat button in the app with a screenshot of the error.
💡 Tips
- Each DuitNow QR payment has a 1.5% transaction fee — see Understanding Moreta's Transaction Fees.
- See Which countries can I pay in with Moreta? for the full country list.
- Moreta does not have a receive feature — you can't collect money into your wallet from other people.
