'This is a personal QR code' in Thailand

Some smaller vendors, such as night market stalls or family-run businesses, may use personal ThaiQR codes to accept payments. These personal QR codes are restricted for use with cross-border QR code wallets like Moreta. However, this is a limitation we're actively working to address. How Can You Identify a Personal QR Code? You can recognize a personal QR code by the format displayed below the QR code itself. Typically, personal QR codes will include a format like xxxx-9837-x or something similar. What Does This Mean for You? If you attempt to pay at a shop or vendor using a personal QR code, the payment will not be processed. Instead, you'll see a message such as 'This is a personal QR code'. While this may affect some of your transactions at smaller vendors, rest assured that we're working to expand Moreta's functionality. What’s Next? We are dedicated to making Moreta work seamlessly for all payment scenarios. Our team is actively working on enabling support for personal QR codes, and we aim to make this feature available soon. Users will be notified via an email announcement. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we work to enhance your payment experience with Moreta. Stay tuned for updates! ⚠️ Thailand QR payments are paused for all users since 29 June. Exception: customers with a US or Canada passport can still pay with business Thai QR. Personal ThaiQR is not supported yet. Need to withdraw? Contact Support in the app for a fee-free withdrawal.

Moreta accepts dynamic and static QR codes

At Moreta, we make payments easy by allowing you to pay through both dynamic and static QR codes. Understanding how each type works can help you make the most out of your payments when using the Moreta app. What Are Static QR Codes? Static QR codes are fixed and unchanging. They typically contain the merchant's payment details, such as their account information, which doesn’t change over time. When you scan a static QR code, the payment information remains the same, and you simply need to enter the payment amount. How Moreta Uses Static QR Codes: - Merchant Payment: Static QR codes are commonly used by many businesses, allowing you to easily pay for goods or services by scanning the QR code and entering the amount. - Frequent Use: Once you scan a static QR code, the payment details appear in the app, and you confirm the payment by entering the amount to be paid. What Are Dynamic QR Codes? Dynamic QR codes are more flexible and can change based on the payment details. These codes are typically used for real-time transactions where the merchant’s details or the payment amount may vary with each transaction. When you scan a dynamic QR code, it automatically populates the payment information, including the amount, allowing for a quicker and more accurate payment process. How Moreta Uses Dynamic QR Codes: - Automatic Payment Details: When you scan a dynamic QR code, Moreta automatically fills in the payment details, including the merchant's information and the transaction amount. This helps you avoid manual errors. - One-Time Use: Dynamic QR codes are often used in situations where payment amounts may change, like for utilities, bills, or subscription services. How to Pay with Dynamic and Static QR Codes Using Moreta 1. Scan the QR Code: Open the Moreta app and scan either a static or dynamic QR code from the merchant. 2. Enter or Confirm Payment Details: For static QR codes, you’ll enter the payment amount. For dynamic QR codes, the payment amount and merchant details will automatically appear. 3. Review and Confirm: Double-check the payment details and make sure everything is correct. 4. Send Payment: Slide the blue slider to the right to securely send your payment. Both static and dynamic QR codes are supported by Moreta to ensure a seamless and fast payment experience, whether you're shopping, dining, or paying bills.

Understanding Scheduled Bank Maintenance In Thailand

What happened? Thai banks perform daily scheduled maintenance between approximately 11:00 PM and 3:00 AM (Thailand time). During this window, banks may temporarily stop processing transactions, which can cause some payments made through Moreta to fail. This is not an issue with Moreta. It is a routine banking system limitation that affects all payment services operating in Thailand. What should I do? - Wait and retry: If your payment fails during this window, simply try again later. - Check your balance: No funds will be deducted from your Moreta wallet for a failed transaction. If you notice a pending charge, it will be reversed automatically. - Plan ahead: If possible, schedule payments outside of the 11 PM to 3 AM maintenance window to avoid interruptions. Bank system maintenance schedules All times are in Thailand time (ICT) and occur daily. - Siam Commercial Bank (SCB) 00:00 to 02:00 - Bangkok Bank (BBL) 23:00 to 23:15 and 02:30 to 03:30 - Kasikorn Bank (KBANK) 00:00 to 01:00 - Krung Thai Bank (KTB) 23:00 to 02:00 - TMB Bank (TMB) 00:00 to 00:30 - Krungsri Bank (BAY) 23:45 to 00:15 and 01:30 to 04:30 - United Overseas Bank (UOB) 00:00 to 06:00 ⚠️ Thailand QR payments are paused for all users since 29 June. Exception: customers with a US or Canada passport can still pay with business Thai QR. Personal ThaiQR is not supported yet. Need to withdraw? Contact Support in the app for a fee-free withdrawal.

Can I send money to a friend with Moreta?

Moreta doesn't have a peer-to-peer (Moreta-to-Moreta) transfer feature — you can't move balance from your wallet to another person's Moreta wallet. But there are still two ways to get money to a friend. Option 1 — Scan their local bank QR code (fastest) If your friend is in a supported country, they can show you the QR code for their local bank account, and you can pay it the same way you pay any merchant: 1. Open Moreta and tap to scan a QR code. 2. Scan your friend's local bank account QR code. 3. Enter the amount and review the details. 4. Slide to confirm. The payment goes straight to their bank account in their local currency. This works wherever Moreta payments are live — currently the Philippines, Vietnam, Laos, Mongolia, Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Bolivia, and Colombia. (In mainland China, Moreta supports WeChat (Weixin) merchant QR payments only, so the bank-QR option doesn't apply there.) Option 2 — Withdraw to your bank, then send If your friend isn't in a supported country, withdraw from Moreta to your own bank first (Settings → Transfers → Withdrawal), then send it to them through your bank as you normally would. Remember: withdrawals can only go back to a bank account you've previously deposited from (unless you're on the new Transfers experience — see withdrawing to a different bank account). 💡 Tips - You're paying your friend's bank QR, not "sending to their Moreta" — there's no receive feature on Moreta. - Double-check the name and amount before you slide to confirm. QR payments are final.
