Paying in Brazil with Moreta works the same way as in our other live countries: you scan the merchant's QR code at checkout and confirm the payment in the app.
Before you pay
-
Add money to your Moreta wallet (card, bank transfer, or crypto). Your balance is held in USD.
-
Make sure you have enough balance for the purchase plus the 1.5% transaction fee (shown on the review screen).
Paying a merchant in Brazil
-
Open Moreta and open the QR scanner.
-
Scan the merchant's QR code displayed at the till, on a receipt, or on their payment terminal — the same QR locals use to pay.
-
Enter the amount in Brazilian reais (BRL) if it isn't filled in automatically.
-
Review the merchant name, amount, and the 1.5% transaction fee.
-
Slide to confirm. Most payments complete within seconds.
Moreta converts your USD balance using the live mid-market rate (see What exchange rate does Moreta use?).
If the scan or payment fails
-
Check you're on the latest app version.
-
Confirm the QR is a merchant / business code (not a code meant only for receiving into someone's personal wallet elsewhere).
-
See My QR payment isn't going through for general troubleshooting.
Still stuck? Use the chat button in the app with a screenshot of the error.
💡 Tips

Paying a friend? You can scan their local bank account QR — see Can I send money to a friend with Moreta?
-
